NORTH-EAST (BORNO STATE)

Please recall that schools in Borno State were closed over a year ago due to Boko Haram insurgency. The government has now raised a 13-member panel that will put in effective machinery for the reopening of schools.

As we speak, some of the closed schools have been converted to accommodate some 200,000 Internally Displaced Persons IDPs. The conversion was effected by the state’s Emergency Management Agency, SEMA.
The Secretary to the State government, Usman Shuwa said the schools are to be reopened at the beginning of the next academic session when the students might have lost two academic years.

BOOST still want to know, however, where the government is taking the IDPs to.
