In a bid to check the
activities of quarks operating in the cover of providing health care for the
people, the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed 148 Medicine shops
in the state for unauthorized sale of drugs.
Mr. Stephen Esumobi, Deputy
Director and Head of Enforcement, PCN, Abuja who announced this in Calabar
during a press conference said the action was taken as part of measures to
ensure that only quality drugs are sold to members of the public.
It will be recalled that there
has been an upsurge of cries by the public over the activities of
unregistered premises, which engage in the illegal sale of Medicine in the
State.
The Director warned that the
Federal Government would not tolerate the indiscriminate sale of drugs without
submission to regulatory control.
He advised members of the
public to purchase their medicines from licensed Pharmacies and medicine shops.
